I am a relatively young man without a college degree. I worked my way up a corporation to a high paying job in which I am stuck in. I can’t leave because other employers laugh when I apply for certain positions based upon my age and it doesn’t help that I look like I’m 15 (even though this is illegal). What can I do? I manage people 50 years older than me and I am very successful but I want a change. Any advice at all would be appreciated.

The idea of this is to remain anonymous so I don’t want to give to many details but I am 24 and work in the corporate level for one of the largest retailers. I consider high paying to be a six figure salary.
No, I don’t feel I have reached the ceiling at this point. There are still plenty of opportunities for growth with this company. I attempted to complete a few courses on the side but I missed too many classes to achieve a satisfying grade due to my revolving work schedule.
Train me to do your job and remained employed as a consultant. The better you train me the more time off you have. People mistake me for the CEO because of my appearance but I just have a lowly job doing accounting administration and financial programming. You could also make me your assisstant. The more I am able to do the more you can work via cell phone from the beach or classroom.

Horaayy..there are 4 comment(s) for me so far ;)
What type of job and company is this? What do you consider "high-paying" and what do you mean by "stuck." Are you not satisfied with the pay or just the corporate level job? How old are you? I would love to be in your position. If you provide more information then maybe I’ll be able to assist you further.
I’m 25/female and work in Retail Banking in Sr. Management. My base salary is $90k and I receive quarterly payouts….As I stated, if you can provide further detail, I can try to assist you…

First of all, congratulations, very few people can be in your situation. To answer your question though, if your patient use your salary and, if possible, the employer sponsored education program and get a degree in whatever you choose, I know this is probably not the answer you wanted, but it would meet your end criteria….Btw, are you in a glass ceiling type of position, you’ve gotten as high as you can go for your age?
