how will the world change? will it change to balance of powers? a single empire? clash of civilizations? global democracy? cold war? terrorist Dark ages? corporation rule? NGO’s rule? world goverment? creative at hocery? then explain why? thanks
would the world change if China rises? i’m trying to say to which category will fall. it has to be to ether one of them, right?

The question is not if, but when. When China rises, nobody really knows what will happen. The IR community is very much divided over this. The realists believe that there will be conflict, but are divided on what type and when. Liberals (in the IR/classical sense) believe that conflict can be avoided and point to the fact that China holds so many treasury notes as a good thing. If we owe them money, they don’t really want our economy to collapse because they want to protect their investment. I guess the real question is whether or not there can ever be a world hegemon. If so, the US certainly is not it. We have great influence in certain areas, but are far from complete domination of the entire globe. If there cannot be a world hegemon, then another cold way may ensue with the US and China each controlling their respective hemishperes. Some would say that this will encourage peace (a true balance of power like during the cold war where each side knows that they cannot ensure victory). Others would say that war is looming because the US will try to prevent China from gaining prominence by whatever means necessary. Again, the IR community is vey much split on this. I would suggest two book: Triangulating Peace and The Tragedy of Great Power Politics.

Hopefully China and India will become superpowers and they can lead the world because they have people from every religion and can treat them well, better than racist U.S. anyway.

The world won’t change. But, what makes you think that China is rising? I think there’s actually more geothermal seismic activity in many other parts of the world. My prediction is someplace else will rise to greater altitudes than anywhere in China. But, what do I know?

China isn’t exactly a non-player. They are one of the bigger growing markets around. As for all your other questions, I could say one thing, someone else could say another. No one really knows what might happen but I think that things like ‘terrorist dark ages’ are pretty unlikely. Good luck on your paper.

If? It’s more like how soon will it happen. As long as a country has free trade like China and doesn’t block US exports I would say China’s rise to the top will be great for everyone except anyone who is concerned about Global Warming because if they think the US is bad, China is going to be 10x worse.

China IS rising and has been for some time. We have structured our entire economy around Chinas, and I dont just mean cheap labor, which is obviously a big part of it. Lets face it, china has the people, the resources, and the ingenuity. The biggest problem it faces right now is that it has built a large part of its economy on the fact that it can provide cheap labor to the first world, but as the chinese middle class grows (and it is growing) I think we will see more products being manufactured for domestic sales, which should give China some of the strength it needs to become the largest economic superpower in the world. What will happen? What do I look like, an oracle??
