My cousin was in the Korean war and was allowed to keep his rifle manufactured by Savage Arms Corporation, Stevens, Chicopee Falls, MA. It is a Model 84 C. He has since died a long time ago, and when his mom came to live with us in her old age, we inherited it. I am spring cleaning and want to get rid of it but don’t know the proper way. Not sure I should put it out in the trash. I live in Maryland and can’t find any laws or disposal method on the websites.
Take it to a gun store or a local museum or veterans organization. They’ll be glad to have it.

No. You shouldn’t throw it in the trash. Call/take it to your local police. They’ll probably throw it in with all the confiscated weapons and melt it down to become man hole covers.

Sell it its worth good money . Check with antique stores or pawn shops .

You can call your local police to see if they know what to do with it. You can also check local gun dealers. They may know of collectors who would be interested in buying it. On that same line of thought, check with antique dealers.

Any police or sheriff’s department will gladly take it off your hands. I would go to a gun dealer however and see if it is worth any money.
Guns are like realstate..they rarely go down in value
I’d estimate that the current value would be in the range of:
V.G. – $150
Good – $100
Fair – $70
Poor – $50
And by the way..that wasn’t his military rifle…we don’t use .22 calibres for service rifles

Depending on the condition of the rifle it could be worth over $1000. Have it appraised, then take it to a dealer.

Hate to break it to you, but that’s not the rifle he used in the Korean War.. The 84-C fires 22LR..
